The UK’s leading topsoil suppliers form a new association.
Baileys of Norfolk Ltd and Dandys (Chester) Ltd have joined forces to create ‘The British Topsoil Suppliers Association’, BTSA.
One of the founders and directors of the new association Mr Adam Dandy said, “Over the last few years more and more Companies have entered into the UK topsoil industry by selling low quality materials such as the fines from skip waste or reconstituted soils from vegetable washing processes. This has come at a substantial cost to the end user.
The best topsoil is one sourced from a Greenfield site that has been left fallow for a number of years. i.e. not exhausted of it’s growing properties. It is low in PTE’s (Potentially Toxic Elements) has a neutral pH as well as having a good organic matter and nitrogen content.
BTSA is a new association which supports and protects the interests of British Topsoil Suppliers and buyers of topsoil. When people call their local topsoil supplier and order topsoil for their garden they don’t expect it to arrive full of chemicals, cement dust, glass, polysterene and other hazardous materials.

BTSA was launched as a way of promoting ‘Good Quality Virgin Topsoil’s’ and providing buyers of topsoil with an easily identifiable mark of quality. The BTSA members logo lets the customer know that the topsoil they order from this supplier has been sourced from Greenfield sites and has been certified by a nationally recognised independent science laboratory, it also means that the topsoil has been certified as being low in PTE's (Potentially Toxic Elements) and free from contaminants. |
